Sharon's Dad's comments about his teacher

The teacher believes in promoting independence and self-reliance in her students. The calculator and the problem were presented with the instructions " solve this ". She appeared satisfied with my response that ticket price yielding the highest gross would be optimal and could be obtained as the product of tickets sold vs maximum price.

Comments about the calculator:

This is a graphic calculator and the problem seems to call for a graph plotting diminishing returns, yet neither teacher nor student could make the calculator perform at least the student's great expectations.

Comments on the project:

This project is a particularly useful exescise. The instruction of another person reinforces the knowledge of the teacher and serves to highlight those portions of the material in which the instuctor may be "soft ". If the instructor continues to assimilate the information neccessary to respond to student's questions, each new lesson becomes more complete with benefits acriving to both teacher and student.

Sharon's response at the project

Comments about the student:

He tried his own method aside of my suggestions. He worked mostly on his own requiring little help.

Comments about the the calculator:

We could not use the calculator in the function that we would have liked to.

Comments about the project:

It was a good exercise.
