The purpose of this assignment is an opportunity to explore your own interests realted to the math field and of course to raise your term grade.


Specific Considerations :

The self directed learning experience you choose should reflect specific interests to you in mathematics. Your objectives should be clear and precise. Your resources might include books, articles, videos, Web Sites, personal interviews, surveys, etc. Your strategies might include an internship, a field trip, a Web review, a survey, or a combination of resources. To prove you have accomplished your stated objectives you might prepare a written report, a demonstration, or complete some type of performance exercise.
To the degree appropriate, the following guidelines will be considered in evaluating your effort:

1. Choice of specific subject; relevancy of the topic to the material we cover in class
2. How well your effort meets your contracted objectives
3. Presentation - format/organization, spelling, grammar, support material, etc
4. Bibliography as required

Step by step...

1. Determine which grade equivalent you wish to earn.
   
   
2. Based on your particular goal fill in each area of the online Learning Contract Form .
   
   
3. Complete the Learning Contract Form for approval. Make arrangements to retain a copy of what you submit.
   
   
4. I shall review your contract and either accept it, or amend it appropriately according to my expectations. The approved or amended contract will be returned to you in a week after you submit it.
   
   
5. Once you have committed to a Learning Contract you must complete it satisfactorily to earn the contract amount. Contracting for an "A" grade and submitting "C" level work will earn you a "C", not an "A", for this portion of the grade.
