Learning contract is a formal agreement written by a
student which details what will be learned, how the learning
will be accomplished, the period of time involved, and the
specific evaluation criteria to be used in judging the
completion of the learning. Learning contracts help
the teacher and student-learner share the responsibility for learning.
Contract learning invites students to a deeper involvement
in the learning activities which they themselves have been
involved in planning.
Students are welcome to place samples of their learning contracts on a bulletin board
for other student to use as examples. All students are strongly
encouraged to brainstorm ideas for learning contracts with the teacher
and their online peers as well as negotiate the final contract utilizing
email or an online discussion group.
The final version, approved by all participants, would be served as a template
for the Learning Contract between me and the student till the end of this year.
