Please look at the following themes in evaluating the work that you've done so far this term:

  1. How well have you understood the new concepts we've encountered this term?

  2. Have you been able to see the connections between different ways to solve the same problem, for instance?

  3. How readily have you been able to translate the word problems into useful graphs and equations?

  4. How well have you been able to express your results both on paper and at the board?

  5. How well have you communicated with your classmates? Have your explanations been useful? Have you answered their questions effectively'? Have you asked useful questions? Have you learned during class discussion?

  6. How have you dealt with lengthy or difficult problems? Have you persevered, or have you given up readily?

  7. How has the class done? What has been your contribution to the group's progress?

  8. How reliable have you been about doing your daily preparations? How frequently have you put your solutions on the blackboard?

  9. What else should be taken into account when evaluating your work?

Each time when you wonder about your current grade please write up an evaluation based on the above questions and have it ready to discuss with me during a special requested by you meeting. As part of this write-up, please include the grade that you think best represents what you've done in the course. In turn, I will bring my evaluation list, and we will come up with a common decision.
If you wish to include any comments for me about how I'm running the class, please feel free to offer them as well.
